A
postdoctoral research/training position is available for a bright and
enthusiastic recent PhD to study the regulation of prothrombin (a key blood
coagulation protein) activation by phosphatidylserine (PS). Projects include 1] EM structural
characterization of a PS-assembled prothrombin activating protein complex; 2]
characterization of the structure and function of this complex in solution or
3] on a membrane surface. A strong
academic background in physical biochemistry is required. Previous experience in model membranes,
fluorescence and other spectroscopic methods, single particle EM, protein
expression/purification, and enzymology is a strong advantage, as is facility
with quantitative modeling of data.
UNC-CH is an equal opportunity/ADA employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
